Summary: Manage the development and sustenance of convention and visitors efforts in the Lawton Fort Sill area.  

Education/Experience: High school diploma, grant writing experience preferred, experience in tourism development preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to write and communicate at a very high level.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.        

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.        

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.        

Physical Environment: Must be able to lift small loads from floor to waist up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

Managing Work – Effective managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently. 

Key Actions

  • Prioritizes; adjusts priorities when appropriate.
  • Makes preparations to ensure required equipment, materials, etc. are in appropriate locations to ensure effectiveness.
  • Schedules; allocates time to complete work; coordinates schedules to avoid conflicts.
  • Leverages resources; takes advantage of available resources to complete work efficiently.
  • Stays focused; uses time effectively and prevents irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with work       completion.
  • Uses sound rationale to explain the value of actions.

Job Specific Activities

  • Assist CVB Director with tracking tourism budget and maintains the status of funds at all times.
  • Assist CVB Director with Action Groups including preparing agendas, keeping minutes and tracking attendance of Advisory council and action groups.
  • Assist CVB Director with event funding requests – accepts requests, ensures all materials are provided, communicates with CVB Director and event planner, ensures compliance with funding conditions, maintains files.
  • Prepares professional packets in order to recruit events, programs, and conventions to Lawton Fort Sill.
  • Prepares welcome packets for visitors.
  • Prepares welcome bags for visitors or groups.
  • Leads efforts to track visitors touched through walk-ins, call-ins and Fort Sill Family Days.
  • Ensure Tourism publications are stocked in house for walk-in distribution and RSVP Volunteer use only.
  • Responds to requests for convention packets & tourist information.
  • Collects monies as needed.

  • Supports Receptionist and Office Manager by answering phones and assisting walk-in customers as needed.
  • Works with CVB Director to assist in obtaining resources for projects including but not limited tovolunteers.
  • Works with CVB team to ensure team performance standards are met.

  • Assist in the selection of appropriate venues for tourism promotion.
  • Lead efforts in Arts, Agriculture and Leisure Travel and research new markets for potential opportunities nationwide.
  • Research new markets and track in Cc Assist for potential opportunities nationwide.
  • Supports recruitment of new Chamber members.

Job Specific Activities

  • Work with CVB Director to provide services, as needed, to site selectors, event planners, tours, and visitors.
  • In collaboration with the CVB Director, maintain adequate supplies of visitor materials at state and local distribution points.
  • Assists CVB team in the creation of promotions designed to entice tourism and visitors to Lawton Fort Sill.
  • Assist CVB Team in developing process to educate visitors staying in hotels on activities occurring in the community on a weekly basis.
